The annual Smith Funeral Home lawn bowling tournament was held at the Sarnia Lawn Bowling in Germain Park on Monday, September 5, 2016. It was a sunny warm day and 15 (45 bowlers) teams competed. The format was mixed trebles.
The winners were as follows:

3rd place - Tom Roth, Laurie Roth, Michelle Roth - West Lorne

The team will be representing District 2 at the Provincial Novice Championship in Hanover, Ontario on September 10 and 11 and will be competing against 15 other teams from across Ontario. Mens Gold Medal Winners: Charlie Lyle & Peter Clarke - District 5 - Burlington
The Provincial Pairs Championship Lawn Bowling Tournament was held July 1 to July 3 at the Sarnia Lawn Bowling Club in Germain Park. Sixteen ladies teams and sixteen mens teams (64 bowlers) from across Ontario competed in the 3 day event. Registration and practice occurred in the afternoon on Friday, July 1, followed by a reception sponsored by Fairwinds Lodge.
The tournament began Saturday morning at 9:00 a.m. following the official opening ceremonies. Three games were played Saturday. The bowling continued into the early evening as several teams were tied after the regular play concluded. Eight ladies teams and eight mens teams were eliminated after Saturday play. Sunday saw three more games played before champions were declared. The bowling concluded on Sunday at 5:30 p.m. followed by the award ceremonies.
Sarnia was represented by 2 teams on the ladies side. Both teams reached the playoffs and ended up facing each other in the Gold Medal game. Rebecca McQueen and Debbie Archer won the gold medal and Nancy McCann and Sue MacDonald won the silver medal in the Ladies division. Both teams represented District 2 and play out of the Sarnia Club.
The bowling was high caliber and exciting and the weather was perfect for lawn bowling on both Saturday and Sunday.

The 16th annual Online Sealing Men's Lawn Bowling Tournament was held on Wednesday, June 15, 2016 in Germain Park at the Sarnia Lawn Bowling Club. Thirteen pairs teams (26 bowlers) competed in the tournament. A light rain for a short period dampened things a little mid morning, but the rest of the day turned out to be quite pleasant.
The winners were as follows:
1st place - Don Caswell & Bob North - Dresden
2nd place - Dave Moffitt & Bill Recor - Sarnia
3rd place - Lyal Mix & Everett Zwiers - London

The Scotiabank Lawn Bowling Tournament was held at the Sarnia Lawn Bowling Club in Germain Park on Wednesday, June 1, 2016. Nine teams (27 bowlers) participated in the tournament. The weather was beautiful and the competition great. The format was open trebles.

2nd place - Bob Machan, Cecelia Machan, Joe McGill - Sarnia
3rd place - Rebecca McQueen, Jim Foley, Bob McQueen - Sarnia
